Beekeeping the Change - Our short term goals

Phase 1 : Finding the opportunity

We've traveled into a deep rural part of Africa and made contact with traditional honey hunters.   We've tested implementing modern beekeeping practices within these communities.  Most importantly, shown rural beekeepers the benefits of using modern beekeeping practices.  The willingness from these communities to be part of this initiative  is resounding.

Phase 2 : Modern beehives and training

We're aiming to do another trip up to our communities. Our first sponsored trip and training with the honey hunters was a big success and we're now looking to replicate.  To that end we're aiming to deliver another 20 beehives, with beekeeping equipment to 5 more traditional honey hunters.  Our immediate goal is to crowd fund R60 000 through our sponsored support.

Phase 3 : The beekeepers first harvest

It will take about 1 year to get a traditional beekeepers equipped trained, with honey bees settled in modern Langstroth hives.   From this point we will implement a harvesting facility, where the beekeepers will be able to process the products from their hives.  We're aiming, by that time, to have a large network of sponsors and patrons who can purchase raw natural honey from these rural beekeepers.
